Hangman is a classic but the stick figure dying is a bit grim. Replacing it with a mango falling out of a tree seemed to be the best way to crowbar "hangman" into a usable domain name for SEO purposes. The result is hangmango.net.
- The brief was simple: family-friendly hangman alternative with a fruit theme. The name "hangmango" arrived pretty quickly and everything else grew around it.
- Six word categories (Animals, Food, Sports, Countries, Movies, Science) each with three difficulty levels.
- There's a custom word mode — you type in a word, hand the device to someone else, and they guess. Means you can play it with another person without needing any backend.
- The CSS tree animation was (apparently) the most ambitious bit technically and fully left up to Claude and it needs a hell of a lot of work. A mango sits in a green canopy; each wrong guess makes the tree wobble with increasing intensity, and on the sixth wrong guess the mango falls and splats. None of this is strictly necessary but it's a nod to the original version of hangman. Claude wrote the whole animation in one go and it mostly worked first time but it's not exactly Pixar.
